XF marks the spot

JAGUAR has an­nounced that the re­place­ment for its trou­bled S-Type sedan is a ‘strik­ing, chal­leng­ing and dar­ing’ sports sa­loon that will be badged as the XF. Jaguar an­nounced the name and lit­tle else about one of the most sig­nif­i­cant new mod­els to wear the fa­mous ‘leaper’. ‘‘The XF is a strik­ing, chal­leng­ing and dar­ing de­sign for what is a truly beau­ti­ful, fast car de­liv­er­ing on Jaguar’s prom­ise of ex­cite­ment,’’ Jaguar Aus­tralia spokes­woman Lesa Horntvedt says. ‘‘This is the part of the brand’s new de­sign di­rec­tion . . . the first taste of a new or­der.’’ Po­si­tioned in the lux­ury mid-size seg­ment, the new Jaguar XF, is from the pen of head of de­sign Ian Cal­lum, the man re­spon­si­ble for the re­cently re­leased XK. The XF will make its pub­lic de­but late next year and reach Aus­tralian show­rooms around the mid­dle of 2008.
