THE ABC in Queens­land has started pro­duc­ing lo­cal ra­dio bul­letins again af­ter a brief hia­tus fol­low­ing last week’s emer­gency clo­sure of the broad­caster’s Bris­bane stu­dios.

Staff re­turned to work yes­ter­day at a tem­po­rary stu­dio based at the Chan­nel Ten stu­dios at Mount Coot-tha, and some pro­duc­tion staff will work out of Syd­ney un­til a per­ma­nent home is found.

ABC man­age­ment or­dered the clo­sure of the build­ing at in­ner-west Toowong last Thurs­day af­ter an in­de­pen­dent study found fe­male em­ploy­ees re­ported breast can­cer at a rate of up to 11 times higher than the gen­eral work­ing com­mu­nity.

Twelve fe­male em­ploy­ees have con­tracted breast can­cer in the past 11 years but the cause re­mains a mys­tery.

At least one of the vic­tims has al­ready sought le­gal ad­vice about pos­si­ble com­pen­sa­tion from the ABC.
