All hands on decks at Brew­ery

Brew­ery will ring in the New Year with one big, bassy bang. Lev­el­One will be host­ing Bass Odyssey, fea­tur­ing three of the hottest names in elec­tronic mu­sic in Aus­tralia to­day. Aleks Ko­vac, 24, will join vet­er­ans Al­lan Scott and Paul Holden for a night of pump­ing beats and basslines that will last the en­tire night.

Holden has played along­side some of the big­gest names in the in­dus­try dur­ing his 23 years pro­fes­sion­ally DJ’ing in­clud­ing Carl Cox, De La Soul, Moby, Fergie, Paul Van Dyke and Faith­less.

‘‘I try to play here (in Townsville) three or four times a year and ev­ery show has been suc­cess­ful,’’ Holden said.

‘‘I’m very, very happy with the re­sponse I get in Townsville, it’s gen­uinely one of my favourite places to play, along with Ade­laide.’’

Ko­vac, aka Aleks Y2K, is look­ing for­ward to play­ing in Townsville again where he be­lieves elec­tronic mu­sic crowds are get­ting bet­ter and bet­ter.

‘‘It gets bet­ter ev­ery year in Townsville,’’ he said.

‘‘They’ve be­come more ed­u­cated and are open to hav­ing a good time.’’
