Plenty playing $33m numbers game

Townsville Bulletin - - Front Page -

IF you only take a punt once a year this is one chance that could certainly pay off.

Tonight $33 million will be up for grabs in the Gold Lotto Megadraw.

The last lucky Townsville winner walked away with a cool million, with his ticket purchased at Mooney St News and Casket Agency in September.

Mooney St News employee Lynda Pertile said she expected business to heavily pick up as the draw drew nearer. She said though she didn’t dabble in Lotto draws herself, there were plenty of first-timers trying their chances.

‘‘We have a lot more people come in, especially people who are just getting a ticket as a one-off for the chance to win,’’ she said.

‘‘This is one of the biggest draws of the year so there will be a lot of people buying tickets in the coming days.’’

This weekend’s draw is the largest ever in Australia and Golden Casket expects close to three million entries to be sold in Queensland.

And it seems Townsville residents have luck on their sides.

The twin cities came in fifth place in Queensland’s top 10 lotto hot spots.

With six first division winners from the Townsville area, a staggering $5 million in total was shared between the lucky winners.
