Showers and possible thunderstorms are forecast throughout New Year’s Eve in Sydney, with predictions the mercury will struggle to top 22 degrees Celsius in the CBD. The $4 million celebrations are being dubbed a Diamond Night in the Emerald City, with the event also ringing in the anniversary of the Harbour Bridge, which celebrates its 75th birthday in March.
Two hundred tonnes of equipment will be used to launch pyrotechnics with 3000kgof explosive content.
