Blair forks out for digs
Prime Minister Tony Blair — criticised in the past for making private use of his contacts in the world of entertainment — has revealed that he is paying an undisclosed amount for spending the New Year at the Miami Beach home of Bee Gees singer Robin Gibb.
A Downing Street spokesman in London said Blair, 53, his wife Cherie and some of their four children were staying at the multimillion dollar mansion on the basis of a ‘private commercial arrangement’.
In the past, the Blairs have made donations to charity in lieu of payment for holidaying at the Barbados home of singer Cliff Richard.
But his spokesman could not say whether a charitable donation was being made on this occasion.
