Re: ‘First Christmas without Darryl’.The story about Darryl is really sad.I didn’t think he would end his life so soon. Darryl and I were good friends, we used to talk to each other and tell each other things when we had our moments.Darryl was a good friend to everyone. When Darryl’s friends found out about what happened to him, there was a lot of heart-broken people. We will always remember him. I think Tony Mooney and his council should get off their cushioned butts and do something about the Mall.I’ve been in this city for 17 years and the Mall looks the same as it did then, with the exception of the Centre Stage. All we seem to get from this council is excuses and blame being laid elsewhere for why there is no funding for infrastructure and community development. I’m beginning to think our Mayor and his cronies have become drunk on the power they have held for the last 17 years and become stale and lost sight of the real issues of this city.Instead they fawn over big development and big money and forget about the people who pay their wages and put them in office.I always thought democracy was meant to represent the people and their wishes. It seems our elected officials have forgotten that point and seem more worried about keeping their well-paid positions on the council.
