Another drop top

Townsville Bulletin - - Cars Guide -

CHRYSLER will add a third Cabriolet to its Australian garage with the arrival of the Sebring Convertible in the latter part of next year. The Sebring Convertible, a fullsize, four-seater coupe with a folding metal roof, will be unveiled next week at the Los Angeles Auto Show. It will be sold in Australia with a single-engine choice, the 2.7-litre V6 which headlines the sedan range. DaimlerChrysler Australia’s Simon Johnston says there are no plans to add the 2.4-litre petrol or 2.0-litre TDI models which will be part of the US range. ‘‘We are looking at keeping the pricing below the luxury tax level so that will have the car around $57,000,’’ Johnston says. ‘‘At that price it will be in a unique position in the Australian market as a full-size, four-seater convertible with a metal folding roof.’’ The car will sit on Chrysler’s new D-segment platform.
