Man knocked out in rob­bery

PO­LICE are in­ves­ti­gat­ing the rob­bery of a man who was knocked un­con­scious by two as­sailants in Gar­butt.

A po­lice spokesman said the 23-year-old vic­tim was on Hugh St when he was ap­proached by two men about 2am Fri­day who spoke to him, be­fore punch­ing him and knock­ing him to the ground.

The man was punched again while on the ground.

He was taken to Townsville Hos­pi­tal af­ter wak­ing up and seek­ing help.

Both men were de­scribed as be­ing of Abo­rig­i­nal or Tor­res Straight Is­lander ap­pear­ance, be­tween 175cm and 180cm in their early 20s.
