Fury faces axe despite dancing to FFA’s tune

I really hope the fury get another chance. I played football in Townsville up until I was 18 and realised there was no stepping stone to improve. I took up a football scholarship in the USA for that reason. It kills me because if the Fury is no longer there the FFA just wasted the past four years. I think I speak for thousands of aspiring young players in Townsville – if there is no team we will lose our talent. Not good enough. Posted by: Chris of Maryland USA The FFA said the A-League would be better than the old NSL. The capital cities and Newcastle already had strong clubs before the A-League. NQ is the only region where FFA and the A-League have achieved any expansion. Now they want to kill it. Time for football to get a new governing body that cares about football. Posted by: Mick of Kelso No wonder this nation is a third-world soccer power. Oh no wait, third world countries play better soccer than Australia. You reap what you sow FFA. I for one will now have no interest in the A-league. Back to watching the EPL on Fox. Come on Chelsea! Posted by: Keith of Townsville

Crews working around the clock to fix roads

‘‘ Cr Vern Veitch said he travelled around his area of responsibility armed with a camera and GPS to report the holes before they got out of hand.’’ Your area of responsibility Vern? Why is it you don’t support the re-introduction of divisions and yet you’re out in ‘‘ your area’’? Posted by: sam of pimlico
