Webber still a mongrel
MARK Webber denies he’s lost the chance to resume position of top dog in the Red Bull stable, saying he’s still got ‘ plenty of mongrel’ in him. The 34-year-old Aussie’s battle with German teammate Sebastian Vettel, 11 years his junior, continues in 2011 after Webber’s performance last Formula One season left him confirmed as Red Bull’s number two driver. Webber has since made clear his intention to replace Vettel as world champion this year, after leading the Formula One standings for much of last season. ‘‘ I’ve always had some good mongrel in me,’’ Webber said.‘‘ If your teammate is winning grand prix and you’re not, that’s not good.’’ The first race is in Melbourne on March 27.
