Quake rocks Welling­ton

A 4.5 MAG­NI­TUDE earth­quake hit Welling­ton last night, spark­ing fresh fears of sim­i­lar scenes to those in Christchurch. The quake, which oc­curred at 10.07 pm lo­cal time, was felt in the North Is­land and up­per South Is­land, and was lo­cated 20km north­west of the cap­i­tal. Though it caused no dam­age, the earth­quake hit at a depth of 40km. Last week’s quake hit at 5km depth. Res­cuers are still work­ing around the clock in Christchurch with fears the death toll could top 240.
