Surf’s up for keen kids

PALM Is­land pri­mary school stu­dents will be hang­ing 10 with the world cham­pi­ons at the Quik­sil­ver Pro in­ter­na­tional surf­ing competition. Eight stu­dents from Bwg­col­man Com­mu­nity School and St. Michael’s Catholic School flew to the Gold Coast yes­ter­day morn­ing to take part in a spe­cial well-be­ing camp and to at­tend the surf­ing competition as spe­cial guests. The stu­dents were cho­sen un­der a pro­gram which en­cour­ages at­ten­dance on all days of the school week, and for chil­dren who have shown com­mit­ment to their ed­u­ca­tion. They will meet in­ter­na­tional surfers, re­ceive surf­ing lessons and at­tend the Wet’n’Wild theme park. West Wing Avi­a­tion is spon­sor­ing stu­dents’ travel from Palm Is­land to Townsville.
