Surf’s up for keen kids
PALM Island primary school students will be hanging 10 with the world champions at the Quiksilver Pro international surfing competition. Eight students from Bwgcolman Community School and St. Michael’s Catholic School flew to the Gold Coast yesterday morning to take part in a special well-being camp and to attend the surfing competition as special guests. The students were chosen under a program which encourages attendance on all days of the school week, and for children who have shown commitment to their education. They will meet international surfers, receive surfing lessons and attend the Wet’n’Wild theme park. West Wing Aviation is sponsoring students’ travel from Palm Island to Townsville.
