Pilot, 37, feared dead
A PILOT is presumed dead after items from his missing plane were found in the Torres Strait. There was no chance the man survived a presumed crash into the sea and a search had been called off, the Australian Maritime Safety Authority said yesterday. The pilot left Cairns on Thursday but failed to arrive at Horn Island, triggering an extensive air and sea search. The last contact with the 37-yearold was just before 8am on Thursday. Plastic storage containers and a document from the plane were found near Dugong Islet.
