Queen to be re­moved

THE por­trait of Queen El­iz­a­beth II will be re­moved from Fiji’s ban­knotes and coins, ac­cord­ing to a re­port in the Fiji Times yes­ter­day. Fi­jian bank notes come in de­nom­i­na­tions of $ 50, $ 20, $ 10, $ 5 and $ 2 – al­though the small­est note is to be re­placed by a coin, ac­cord­ing to the re­port ‘‘ Iconic flora and fauna of Fiji have been se­lected to re­place Queen El­iz­a­beth II’s por­trait,’’ Prime Min­is­ter Com­modore Voreqe Bain­i­marama said yes­ter­day.
