New home sales up 2.5pc
THE number of new homes sold across Australia has risen for the first time in three months, amid signs of growing confidence in New South Wales, a survey shows. The latest HIAJELD-WEN New Home Sales Report shows the number of new homes sold increased by 2.5 per cent in January – the first gain in three months. The survey also found that multi-units sales were up by 5 per cent, while detached house sales rose by 2.2 per cent. Sales fell by 2.6 per cent in Queensland, a result likely to have been influenced by the floods, HIA said. South Australia sales fell 6.3 per cent in January.
