‘ Lit­tle House’ star sep­a­rates from hus­band

FOR­MER child star Melissa Gil­bert has sep­a­rated from her hus­band, Tron ac­tor Bruce Boxleit­ner, af­ter 16 years of mar­riage, her rep­re­sen­ta­tive con­firmed to US Peo­ple mag­a­zine.

Gil­bert, who pl ayed Laura In­galls Wilder on the clas­sic TV show Lit­tle House on the Prairie, be­gan an un­likely ro­mance with Boxleit­ner, 14 years her se­nior af­ter his ex-wife set the two up in the early ’ 90s and they were mar­ried in 1995.

The cou­ple has a 15-year-old son called Michael, who was named af­ter Gil­bert’s Lit­tle House co-star Michael Lan­don. Boxleit­ner, 60, has two sons with his for­mer wife, ac­tress Kathryn Hol­comb, and Gil­bert also has a son from a pre­vi­ous mar­riage.

‘‘ We have loved each other for a very long time and we share four in­cred­i­ble sons to­gether. On be­half of our fam­ily we ask to be al­lowed our pri­vacy dur­ing this very dif­fi­cult time,’’ Gil­bert, 46, a for­mer pres­i­dent of the Screen Ac­tors Guild, said in a state­ment.
