Double joy for RAAF dad
TWINS Tobee and Ellyjah Dyer have an identical ambition to give their daddy lots of big cuddles when he gets home after six months in Afghanistan.
Leading Aircraftman Dyer will return to Townsville in three weeks and get to see his identical twin sons for the first time since they were three months old. The family has lived in Townsville for two years.
His wife Sancha is also eagerly anticipating the reunion, although the separation has been made easier by regular phone calls home.
‘‘ When I put the phone receiver up to the boys’ ears they freeze, stop whatever they are doing and listen, so they obviously recognise his voice,’’ Mrs Dyer said. ‘‘ He’s a real hands-on dad.
‘‘ It’s been challenging and testing at times but I have lots of friends in our church who help me out and my neighbour is also lovely and comes to check on me every day. We’re looking forward to seeing him so much, we’re counting down the hours.’’
Mrs Dyer said there was never a dull moment in her household with her giggling baby boys around but it would be nice to have her husband home again.
