More than Wompoo

Townsville Bulletin - - Voice Of The North -

NQ Wildlife Carers reports that besides the influx of Wompoo pigeons ( About Town 3/ 3) after the cyclone there are large numbers of Superb Fruit Doves, Purple-crowned Fruit Doves, TI Pigeons, Bronze wing doves and Brown Cuckoo-doves staggering around. They have had quite a few handed to them for care due to exhaustion, starvation and injury. They ask us all to keep an eye out for them and keep cats indoors. The birds live in the rainforest usually and are not used to civilisation so they often fly into windows because they don’t know about them. If you come across an injured native animal take it to the nearest vet or ring NQ Wildlife on 0414 717374.
