RE­PORTS the Townsville City Coun­cil sought al­most $ 250,000 from a gym­na­sium busi­ness to set up shop in an ex­ist­ing com­mer­cial build­ing in Thuringowa Cen­tral should concern peo­ple.

That the coun­cil was then pre­pared to drop its price $ 100,000 and may drop its price fur­ther sug­gests its in­fra­struc­ture charges regime is ar­bi­trary.

Then there is the fact that other coun­cils such as Mackay don’t charge at all.
