Face facts, FFA: you made a bad call
THE FFA made a very bad decision. Football in North Qld is the most popular youth sport and is supported by thousands of families and children who all adored and cheered for the Fury even when t i mes were t ough. FACT: The Fury maintained a higher crowd percentage than any other team in the league per capita. FACT: The Fury’s fan base was the fastest growing. FACT: The Fury’s future sponsorship have become on to be the highest in the league. FACT: QLD has the third highest population in Australia and covers more territory then any other state in the league, yet now the only A League football QLD teams are both based 100km from each other centred around South-East QLD. FACT: Townsville is the fastest growing nonmetropolitan city in Aust ralia with a population boom of 11.3 per cent per year expected in the next two years yet the FFA cannot see a future profit and the potential of furthering the game in a region that is exploding with talent.
FACT: the FFA stands for the Football Federation of Australia. Not the Football Federation of a capital/ major city. FACT: What the FFA has done is completely un-Australian and you are breaking the people, the belief in a game the world loves and also the spirit of a sleeping giant called North QLD. You have completely shattered our spirit! The people of North QLD are working families, they grow the crops that feed your families. They hire the workforce to keep the economy going and you have just proved that the ‘‘ suits’’ from down south simply do not care! Yours in disgust. ERIC BALL JNR,
