NZ quake zone rescuers return
A QUEENSLAND search and rescue team has returned home from earthquake ravaged Christchurch after recovering 43 dead bodies from the rubble of the collapsed Canterbury TV building. The taskforce of 72 specialist search and rescue personnel left for Christchurch the day after the 6.3 magnitude quake struck on February 22. They arrived back in Brisbane on Saturday night after a harrowing fortnight and have been replaced by a second contingent.
Deputy taskforce leader Peter Dawson said the day it arrived half the team set up a base camp while the others got straight to work in the CBD searching for survivors.
