Facebook courts Skype
FACEBOOK is in talks with Skype about adding a video chat feature to the world’s largest social networking website in order to compete with Google Talk and Apple’s F a c e T i m e a p p l i c a t i o n , Bloomberg reported on the weekend.
Two people familiar with the discussions said the companies were reportedly renewing discussions that began last year about the video chat feature.
Voice calling for Facebook friends became available in October when Skype 5 was launched but video chatting has yet to reach the social network giant’s website.
Skype, which is based in L u x e mbo u r g , r e g i s t e r e d with the US Securities and Exchange Commission in August to sell its shares to the public.
