Aftershocks rattle city
MORE aftershocks from Christchurch’s big quake have rattled the city as steady rain fell throughout the area making some streets impassible due to surface flooding. Police are closely monitoring several Christchurch suburbs in case of flooding. Jumpy residents, frazzled by the death and destruction and frequent aftershocks since the 6.3 quake on February 22, suffered through seven more tremors up to 4.8 in about three and a half hours on Saturday evening. Most were close to Lyttleton.
