Insp Doyle said minor bingles across town during poor conditions were a reminder for motorists to be extra careful to prevent more serious accidents.
‘‘ With this weather, we really need to encourage people to drive to the conditions,’’ he said.
‘‘. . . so be extremely mindful of any water that might be lying on the roads and we definitely don’t want anyone to enter into swollen creeks or attempt to cross any flooded roadways.’’
Insp Doyle said police would be putting up road closed signs in areas where needed, but urged motorists to use common sense on f l o o d e d r o a d s w i t h o u t signage and not attempt to cross.
‘‘ Bear in mind conditions can change very quickly as well,’’ he said.
