Crash traps teen

There was an­other sin­gleve­hi­cle crash on Stan­ley St be­low Cas­tle Hill about 8.35am.

The fe­male driver was taken to Townsville Hos­pi­tal with mi­nor in­juries.

Insp Doyle said mi­nor bin­gles across town dur­ing poor con­di­tions were a re­minder for mo­torists to be ex­tra care­ful to pre­vent more se­ri­ous ac­ci­dents.

‘‘ With this weather, we re­ally need to en­cour­age peo­ple to drive to the con­di­tions,’’ he said.

‘‘. . . so be ex­tremely mind­ful of any wa­ter that might be ly­ing on the roads and we def­i­nitely don’t want any­one to en­ter into swollen creeks or at­tempt to cross any flooded road­ways.’’

Insp Doyle said po­lice would be putting up road closed signs in ar­eas where needed, but urged mo­torists to use com­mon sense on f l o o d e d r o a d s w i t h o u t sig­nage and not at­tempt to cross.

‘‘ Bear in mind con­di­tions can change very quickly as well,’’ he said.
