Carney deserves support

Townsville Bulletin - - Voice Of The North -

I WISH to comment on the alleged bad behaviour of our top NRL footballers.

I see Todd Carney as a target because of his making a commitment to stop drinking.

Since he was pulled over and breathalysed, making a name for himself, the media h a v e d o n e a S p a n i s h Inquisition-style attempt to ruin his credibility.

I can understand Benji Marshall being upset at 3 a m b e i n g t a u n t e d b y would-be could-be heroes but I have watched Benji play and he is no innocent when it comes to violence on and off the field.

Every game I watched Benji play, including the World Cup, he was involved in fights which include cheap shots. The way I see it I would rather give Todd Carney all the help in managing his drinking problem and send Benji back to New Zealand never to return as a violent visitor. DAVE KENNEDY,

Hermit Park.
