Polota- Nau re- signs with NSW
B A R N S T O R M I N G N S W Waratahs hooker Tatafu Polota-Nau delivered two good pieces of news on Monday.
One of the form players in the early weeks of the revamped Super Rugby competition, Polota-Nau confirmed that he’d re-signed with both NSW and the Australian Ruby Union for two more years.
And he al s o had good reason to be upbeat about the knee injury suffered in the first half of the Waratahs’ loss to the Crusaders in Nelson last Friday.
Scans taken yesterday revealed damage to his left posterior cruciate ligament – a better result than if it had been the anterior cruciate ligament.
The resilient 25-year-old rake, with 25 Test caps and 70 appearances for NSW, has missed only three Super games since his debut in 2006. He hopes a timely bye this weekend will mean he doesn’t add to that tally in the short term.
The youngest player to attain a half century of NSW caps, Polota-Nau was voted the NSW Players’ Player of last year. And he has joined backs Drew Mitchell and Berrick Barnes in re-signing.
