Res­cue staff sent to city

SEVEN spe­cial­ist Queens­land Fire and Res­cue Ser­vice swift-wa­ter res­cue per­son­nel have been sent to Townsville to help with ex­pected im­pacts of heavy rain over com­ing days.

Emer­gency Ser­vices Min­is­ter Neil Roberts said the crew was part of 17 ser­vice spe­cial­ists – in­clud­ing 12 swift-wa­ter res­cue per­son­nel, four elec­tronic com­mand and con­trol per­son­nel and one com­mu­ni­ca­tions of­fi­cer – de­ployed from south-east and cen­tral Queens­land to the North.

‘‘ They will be placed across North Queens­land,’’ he said.
