Stormtrooper copyright fight

Townsville Bulletin - - News -

THE UK Supreme Court will continue hearing today a case to decide who owns the British copyright of the iconic Stormtrooper uniform used in the 1977 Star Wars film. British prop designer Andrew Ainsworth claims he has the right to manufacture and sell replica suits because he created the original product. But George Lucas, the film’s director, maintains he is the legal copyright owner and is challenging Ainsworth’s desire to continue making money from the uniforms. Ainsworth made the famous white helmet and suit from 2D drawings.
