Mr Shuf­fles AUS­TRALIA’S most mirac­u­lous ele­phant has shuf­fled his way to his first birth­day de­spite a dif­fi­cult jour­ney into the world. Mr Shuf­fles be­came a na­tional sen­sa­tion when he was born af­ter ex­perts as­sumed he had died dur­ing his mother’s dif­fi­cult labour. One year on, Mr Shuf­fles has tweeted about his en­try into the world. ‘‘ Thank you Taronga Zoo for look­ing af­ter me so well in my 1st year! But u need to take us for long walks or I’ll start es­cap­ing again,’’ he said. Mis­ter Shuf­fles, whose Thai name is Pathi Harn – mean­ing a mir­a­cle – has also ap­par­ently just learned about his dif­fi­cult jour­ney into the world and tweeted ex­cit­edly about that too. ‘‘ Mum says this time last year all hu­mans here were cry­ing bcs they thoughts I was dead! Mum says she knew I was okay & wanted 1 more ul­tra­nap,’’ he tweeted.
