Women laws for contracts
THE Federal Government will not do business with companies which don’t push gender equality in the workplace. Under reforms announced yesterday, businesses will also have to disclose how many staff are women and how many of them occupy senior roles. Status of Women Minister Kate Ellis said $ 42 billion in government contracts were at stake. The Opposition blasted the move and said businesses in male-dominated fields would be unfairly targeted. Tony Abbott promised to repeal the law if elected Prime Minister.
