Townsville Bulletin - - Investor -

POPULATION gains from migration weakened in January as more New Zealanders succumbed to the attractions of Australia, and economists expect the trend to get stronger. Figures from Statistics New Zealand show a seasonally adjusted net gain of 450 permanent and long term arrivals in January, the lowest level since last June. Unadjusted, permanent and long term arrivals outnumbered departures by 800 for the month, down from a gain of 2500 in January 2010, with the main factor being a 1400 increase in departures of New Zealand citizens to Australia.
