Footy star’s dark days

Townsville Bulletin - - Inside Today -

BRENDAN Fevola lost more than $ 1 million due to his gambling addiction and considered suicide at t he d e p t h o f hi s d e - pression as his AFL career unravelled.

The sacked AFL star exposed the depth of his battles with gambling, alcohol and depression in a dramatic and paid-for interview on last night’s AFL Footy Show.

But even before his interview went to air, his comeback with VFL club Casey Scorpions was on the brink of failure after the gambling addict was asked to leave Crown Casino for playing poker.

Fevola was approached by Crown staff shortly a f t e r h e a r r i v e d a t 10.30am. Fevola left the casino without incident.

Yet to sign a one-year deal with Casey Scorpions, it is believed the club i s f ar f rom i mpressed with his latest deviation from his rehabilitation plans.

Coach Brad Gotch had been on a Melbourne radio show discussing his concerns around the same time Fevola went to the casino.
