Weaker re­source stocks dip shares

THE Aus­tralian share mar­ket was sharply lower af­ter re­source stocks were weighed down by weaker base metal prices.

At 1614 AEDT on Thurs­day, the bench­mark S&P / ASX200 in­dex was down 68.1 points, or 1.43 per­cent, at 4699.7, while the broader All Or­di­nar­ies in­dex was 71.9 points, or 1.48 per­cent, weaker at 4791.3.
