Sniffer dogs set for tsunami rescue
TWO Queensland dog handlers fresh from rescue efforts in Christchurch are bracing themselves for even worse scenes of destruction in Japan.
Only a week after returning from 11 days of searching the rubble of q uake-hi t Chris t c hurch, Barry Lowday and Chris Purcill and their sniffer dogs will be doing it all again.
Mr Lowday and Mr Purcill are good mates and volunteer searchand-rescue dog handlers from Ipswich. They are among only a few Australian dog handlers to have worked overseas and were sent to search for people after a mudslide in Papua New Guinea in 2008.
