Shot in arm for tourism
TOWNSVILLE Tourism has been given a welcome and timely boost after receiving $ 100,000 from the State Government to attract key business events to the region. Premier Anna Bligh said the Townsville Convention Bureau would receive the funding in addition to more than $ 121,000 already received. ‘‘ Attracting more business events to Townsville and North Queensland will give the region a big shot in the arm when it needs it most,’’ she said. Mundingburra MP Lindy Nelson-Carr said the Townsville region was a great spot to do business. ‘‘ It is a growing, vibrant and dynamic region with an enormous amount to offer,’’ she said.
