Shot in arm for tourism

TOWNSVILLE Tourism has been given a wel­come and timely boost af­ter re­ceiv­ing $ 100,000 from the State Gov­ern­ment to at­tract key busi­ness events to the re­gion. Premier Anna Bligh said the Townsville Con­ven­tion Bu­reau would re­ceive the fund­ing in ad­di­tion to more than $ 121,000 al­ready re­ceived. ‘‘ At­tract­ing more busi­ness events to Townsville and North Queens­land will give the re­gion a big shot in the arm when it needs it most,’’ she said. Mund­ing­burra MP Lindy Nel­son-Carr said the Townsville re­gion was a great spot to do busi­ness. ‘‘ It is a grow­ing, vi­brant and dy­namic re­gion with an enor­mous amount to of­fer,’’ she said.
