KEEP your eyes peeled . . . Nor t h Que e n s l a n d - b a s e d Senator Ian Macdonald has t h r e a t e n e d t o r e l e a s e a saltwater crocodile into Lake Burley Griffin in Canberra and in the Brisbane River to highlight the growing problem of rogue crocodiles in the North.

‘‘ I am sick and tired of trying to convince looney left greenies and Labor politicians that crocodiles lurk- ing in or near cities and towns need to be culled or removed as a matter of urgency,’’ Sen. Macdonald said.

He sent out a challenge to Julia Gillard, Anna Bligh and Bob Brown to come on a camping trip with him to the Cape or the Gulf to experience t he t hreat f i rst hand.

Senator Macdonald said an attack last week on a fisherman by a 4m crocodile near Weipa almost cost the man his life.

‘‘ Locals say this croc was a baby compared to some of the monsters they’ve seen in local rivers,’’ he said.

‘‘ If nothing else, putting a croc into Lake Burley Griffin or the Brisbane River might be the only way to highlight the problem to those who seem to believe that crocs are more important than humans’’.
