Feminists a silent majority

Townsville Bulletin - - Voice Of The North -

SO, Ken McElligott is another one who thinks that feminists are to blame for all the woes of the world ( TB, March 14). If only we were so powerful. If only politicians and other community leaders gave a toss about what we think.

Many of us agree with you, Ken, about the appalling personal attacks that pass for political debate in this country, but we won’t cop the blame for a situation that politicians past and present, including yourself, created. Feminists continue to speak, write and demonstrate in support of a fair go for our Prime Minister and Premier because they are women we are immensely proud of, but our words are ignored.

If you want to hear from us, Ken, then show a bit of interest in what we say. Don’t just use us when you need someone to blame. BETTY McLELLAN,

Railway Estate.
