Rain cancels Towers’ sale

Townsville Bulletin - - Investor -

HEAVY rains and North Queensland’s cyclonedamaged road network have again combined to thwart grazier’s plans to turn off cattle, with tomorrow’s weekly auction at Charters Towers cancelled due to insufficient numbers. The cancellation comes in the wake of the presence of a strong gallery of buyers at Dalrymple Saleyards last week when the 308-head offering featured just 160 cattle destined for the meatworks. Despite forecasts of rain, agents and graziers will be hoping for better luck next week when, along with the regular Wednesday auction, a special Friday sale is planned, for which cattlemen already have registered good numbers.
