Cricket: developing bowling skills
STUDENTS in the cricket development squad at Ignatius Park College had the chance to fi ne tune their bowling skills during a Fast Bowling Road Show clinic recently. The two-hour session was run by Queensland Cricket’s Vic Williams and former Queensland Bulls player Joe Dawes. During the session, the players worked on their strength and conditioning skills, bowling plans and also strength and conditioning to prevent injuries. Ignatius Park College teacher Tim Lindeberg said the players had learnt a lot of new skills. “ Normally they just practice in the nets, so to learn the physiological and body side was benefi cial,’’ Lindeberg said. “ In a game they normally just bowl, but now they have been taught to plan their bowling.’’ Eighteen boys were part of the session all aged between 13 and 17 years.
