THE fran­chis or wholed Brumby’s out of dol­drums, Michael Sher­lock, will ad­dress a break­fast event at the Mer­cure Inn on March 25.

The event is be­ing co-hosted by the Townsville Cham­ber of Com­merce and Townsville En­ter­prise as part of a Small Busi­ness and Fran­chise Expo be­ing staged by the North Queens­land Small Busi­ness De­vel­op­ment Cen­tre.

Mr Sher­lock will speak of his ex­pe­ri­ence as a fran­chise and re­tail con­sul­tant and how he trans­formed the bak­ery busi­ness from a bas­ket case to a highly re­garded fran­chise sys­tem.

Mr Sher­lock, now a reg­u­lar colum­nist for Busi­ness Re­view Weekly, is a di­rec­tor of Cold Rock, BLC Shop­fit­ting and GrassAds.

He has just pub­lished his lat­est book on growth strat­egy called Jump­shift.

‘‘ Michael in­creased Brumby’s value from $ 6 mil­lion to $ 46 mil­lion in three years , ’ ’ cham­ber pres­i­dent John Carey said.

‘‘ That is tremen­dous growth by any­one’s stan­dards.’’

By the time Mr Sher­lock sold Brumby’s in 2007, there were 320 fran­chises through­out Aus­tralia and New Zealand.
