Hard sell on carbon tax
THE Labor Party faces a huge challenge ‘‘ selling’’ its proposed carbon tax if private LNP polling is any guide, especially in North Queensland. With council rates and power bills already soaring, North Queenslanders are extremely concerned at the cost-of-living implications of the proposed tax. This region also has thousands of people employed directly by mining, one of the industries that will be affected most by such a tax. Selling the tax will be tough going for Prime Minister Julia Gillard and Premier Anna Bligh.
