Cowboys battle virus in lead- up to big match

Townsville Bulletin - - Rugby League -

A BOUT of viral conjunctivitis hit some members of the Cowboys camp this week but no player will miss Saturday night’s game.

In good news for fans, not one player affected by the eye infection missed a training session this week.

Cowboys general manager of football Peter Parr said eye drops were given to the whole squad to stop the infection from spreading any further.

‘‘ The biggest drama with conjunctivitis is that it’s contagious so we were able to ensure we got on top of it early,’’ he said.

‘‘ The three worst ( affected) were Ash Graham, Willie Tonga and Glenn Hall.

‘‘ Nobody had to miss a training session, the players have not been sick.

‘‘ All they’ve had is some irritation, weeping around the eye, it hasn’t affected preparations at all.’’

Parr said it was believed the infection was picked up last week.
