Green waste site closed
Ray Collins THE green waste transfer station at Lou Litster Park will be shut down over the next week. More than 430,000 cubic metres of bulk green waste has been processed at the site, resulting in some 208,000 cubic metres of mulch. Chipper mulch is being trucked to the city’s parks for use on gardens while the coarser tub-ground mulch will be used as landfill cover. Townsville City Council’s Parks Services executive manager Ray Collins said any mulch still on site had been treated to reduce odour and all but 4000 cubic metres would be taken away by next Saturday.
