THE chal­lenge is set.

Queens­land’s hol­i­day hot spots will be served up on a plate for do­mes­tic and in­ter­na­tional busi­nesses fol­low­ing the an­nounce­ment of a $ 1 mil­lion Queens­land travel pack­age.

Com­pa­nies and work­places around the globe will com­pete for the op­por­tu­nity to win a lux­ury Queens­land re­ward as part of the Mil­lion Dol­lar M e m o c a m p a i g n , launched yes­ter­day by Premier Anna Bligh.

The chal­lenge is sim­ple. Con­tes­tants reg­is­ter and state why their work­place de­serves to win the $ 1 mil­lion worth of travel ex­pe­ri­ences in Queens­land.

Townsville En­ter­prise gen­eral man­ager Scott Waters said the competition was aimed at the in­cen­tive hol­i­day mar­ket, which was a strong growth area es­pe­cially for Townsville.

‘ ‘ We’ r e a l l wor k i n g harder now and we want to keep our em­ploy­ees happy.

‘‘ This is just one way for bosses to show their ap­pre­ci­a­tion,’’ he said.

A lot of the chal­lenges are kept un­der wraps but a sky­dive on to White- haven Beach and ex­treme golf chal­lenges are just a cou­ple the con­tes­tants will com­pete for.

Ev­ery year com­pa­nies in­vest bil­lions of dol­lars in cor­po­rate re­ward hol­i­days for their staff and Mr Waters said he ex­pected an in­ter­est­ing mix of peo­ple to ap­ply for the chal­lenges.

En­trants need to cre­ate a n e n t e r t a i n i n g 60-sec­ond video show­ing what makes their com­pany great and why they think Queens­land is the ultimate re­ward for their staff.

W h e t h e r i t ’ s a w e - i n s p i r i n g a d v e n t u r e , re­lax­ation on trop­i­cal is­lands and beaches, up close en­coun­ters with some of Queens­land’s u n i q u e w i l d l i f e , o r sim­ple en­joy­ment of the l a i d - b a c k Queens­land l i f e s t y l e , T o u r i s m Queens­land will tai­lor the ex­pe­ri­ence for the win­ning com­pany.

Nine­teen in­ter­na­tional T o u r i s m Q u e e n s l a n d of­fices in­clud­ing Lon­don, Los An­ge­les, Ger­many, Sin­ga­pore, Korea and Ja­pan would be a go-to venue for en­trants.

T h e W h i t s u n d a y s , T o w n s v i l l e , Ma c k a y , Gold Coast, Sun­shine Coast and Cairns are just a few of the cities and re­gions tak­ing part in the Mil­lion Dol­lar Memo cam­paign.

The cam­paign is part of a $ 7 mil­lion over­all cam­paign run by Tourism Queens­land.
