Police chasing two suspects
POLICE are on the hunt for two men who allegedly robbed a woman while she was working.
Townsville District Property Crime Unit officer-in-charge Det ective Senior-Sergeant Jason Shepherd said the men entered the office area of the Townsville Palms Lodge in Peel St, Garbutt about noon on March 13.
Sen-Sgt Shepherd said one of the men pushed the female manager up against a wall and removed money from her waistband and fled down Peel St towards Ingham Rd.
‘‘ When the suspect has pushed the victim up against the wall, he’s demanded the money from her,’’ he said.
‘‘ It would be known
to people who attend Palms Lodge that the manager kept money on her person, which was where she gave change from and so forth.’’
He said the other alleged offender stayed outside, presumably to keep watch, and took off running with the other man after the u n a r m e d r o b b e r y . S e n - S g t Shepherd said the main alleged offender was described as Aboriginal, between 30-40, about 180cm tall, muscular build, with a number one-style crew cut and wearing a red shirt.
He said the suspect had a roundish face with a scar on the left side of his top lip.
The second suspect was described as being an Aboriginal man, about 150cm tall with a skinny build and wearing a black baseball cap.
Sen-Sgt Shepherd said the victim had been shaken up by the incident, but did not appear to have any significant injuries.
He said it appeared the robbery was planned given the men knew where the money was and that one acted as a lookout.
Anyone with information about the incident should call Townsville police on 4759 9777 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
