Clean- up of mustard gas
THE government will destroy a cache of weapons containing mustard gas found buried on a Queensland property. Parliamentary secretary for Defence David Feeney said the clean-up of the old chemical munitions, which were buried during World War II, is scheduled to start next month. More than 140 munitions containing mustard agent have been excavated from the property – the largest find of its kind ever made in Australia. Mustard gas can cause lung damage if inhaled.
