Tilt train goes off the rails

Townsville Bulletin - - News -

A CAIRNS-bound Tilt Train derailed near Ingham on Saturday. A Queensland Rail spokeswoman said one wheel on a lead carriage became dislodged. There were no injuries and Queensland Rail arranged alternative transport to take the 57 passengers to Cairns. The section of the north coast line was closed down while investigators determined the cause of the incident. The spokeswoman said Queensland Rail would work as quickly as possible to clear the track once the investigators had finished but it was unclear how long the section would remain closed to traffic. Queensland Rail would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused to customers, she said.
