Teach­ers suf­fer cy­ber bul­ly­ing

CY­BER bul­ly­ing is hit­ting Aus­tralian school staffrooms, with dozens of teach­ers in Vic­to­ria off work af­ter com­ing un­der at­tack on­line from stu­dents.

The Aus­tralian Ed­u­ca­tion Union ( AEU) re­vealed at least 32 teach­ers in Vic­to­ria had taken time off work due to cy­ber bul­ly­ing since June last year.

A search of the Rate My Teacher web­site un­cov­ered dozens of anony- mous en­tries by stu­dents ac­cus­ing their teach­ers of pae­dophilia.

One com­ment said: ‘‘ Chil­dren of ( school), clench your bums and don’t stop run­ning . . . ( name deleted) is a pae­dophile, pure and sim­ple."

AEU Vic­to­rian pres­i­dent Mary Bl u e t t s a i d s t u d e n t s t a r g e t i n g teach­ers on the web­site and so­cial net­work­ing sites had caused sev­eral teach­ers to quit the pro­fes­sion and dozens more to take time off work.
