Time for Cows to move forward, not sidestep

Townsville Bulletin - - Voice Of The North -

AS one of thousands of longsuffering Cowboys fans I have been thinking about writing this letter for a number of years, but until now have decided against it.

I know a lot of you will disagree or say it’s too early in the year to comment but I would rather it be too early than too late.

Why after so long are we still so inconsistent?

Why did we knock back Wayne Bennett as a coach when he wanted too come here?

Why can’t we lure him here still?

Apparently he likes a challenge and what better challenge then to take the Cowboys from total wooden spooners to at least mid-table consistency?

What is Neil Henry’s win loss record for us?

Why did the car park at- tendant/ hotdog guy/ orange peeler and everyone else except the people who were responsible get retrenched when it is clear that it was the people at the top of the food chain that were responsible for our predicament?

Yes it’s true, Aaron Payne’s horses have more chance of winning the Cox Plate than he has of winning us a premiership and that Matty Bowen rarely runs unless he knows that a gap has opened up for him.

The Cowboys need to start building a team around players who know how to win or at least who put their body on the line.

Why put up a bomb for our wingers? They can’t jump.

When was the last time any of our players leapt above the pack to score?

Why does it seem like we need 10 passes to make six metres every tackle? Let’s wake up bigwigs in the board room, 14,000 people in attendance is because they know we still are baitfish.

Put your egos to the side fellas, as myself and every other North Queenslander deserves to have a team to be proud of and not the laughing stock of the NRL. Move forward, not sidestep. CLIFF BETTS,
